“Take a Breather on ASO” – for autistic adults age 16 and older.

ASO is pleased to have the opportunity to expand our very popular “Take a Break on ASO” program for parents to provide a similar opportunity for autistic adults to relax and recharge. ASO will provide up to $100 per autistic adult per year to facilitate a break or “breather” of the person’s choice.

Eligibility: This program is open to any autistic adult in Oregon and SW Washington who is not a paid ASO staff member and at least 16 years old. We recognize that 16 years old is not a legal adult but want to reach people who are beginning to feel the stresses of adulthood.  Someone who is both autistic and a parent of an autistic child (and thus also eligible for our “Take a Break on ASO” program), may participate in only one program per year.

Ideas for Breaks: Movie tickets, museums, restaurants, hobby materials, sensory items, gym membership, books, art supplies, athletic events or equipment, short vacations and related costs such as childcare and transportation. Due to ASO’s 501(c)(3) status, break funds cannot be used to directly support or directly oppose a candidate in a political campaign or election.

How to Apply:  To participate, please fill out the application form at the LINK HERE. We are now accepting applications for 2026 and will be fulfilling them as soon as possible after the new year. For questions about applying or if you have any difficulties in accessing the registration page, please contact the ASO office by phone at 503-636-1676 or email Info@AutismSocietyOregon.org.

Take a Breather on ASO is being sponsored for 2026 by a generous donation from DSP Connections.
