Taking Charge of My Health Care Toolkit – a free online resource

Join us and learn about a newly released, free resource called “Taking Charge of My Health Care Toolkit”. The toolkit aims to increase the skills of people with IDD to manage and advocate for their health and health care through general health education, skill building exercises, and sharing of resources. The toolkit is also designed to be utilized by people in supportive roles, i.e., families, caregivers, support workers, teachers, health care providers, etc. The toolkit is comprised of 9 modules and includes corresponding workbooks, worksheets, PowerPoints, and videos, as well as a Leader’s Guide and Fact Sheets.

The toolkit was developed by the Oregon Self Advocacy Coalition’s Health Care Committee, a non-profit comprised of people with IDD; Oregon’s Council on Developmental Disabilities; the Oregon Office on Disability and Health; and the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities at Oregon Health & Science University.
