SUMMARY:The Stimming Pool - Film Screening (Portland)
DESCRIPTION:The Stimming Pool\, an experimental docufiction film\, co-created by a cast and crew of mainly neurodiverse artists. The Stimming Pool presents the world as informed by autistic perspectives and perception. PAM CUT’s Tomorrow Theater is pleased to present this ground-breaking and awarding winning film for the first time on the West Coast\, and one of the few screenings in the United States\, most recently at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. \n  \nThe Stimming Pool \nThursday\, July 23\, 2026 \n7:00pm \nTomorrow Theater \n3530 SE Division Street\, Portland\, Oregon \nBuy tickets here – use discount code STIMMING-5 at checkout to purchase $5 tickets \nThere will be a post-screening discussion with local filmmakers Bret Malley\, director of the in-progress film The Divergent Gift: Unboxing Autism and Julie Perini \nCo-created by the Neurocultures Collective (Sam Chown-Ahern\, Georgia Bradburn\, Benjamin Brown\, Robin Elliott-Knowles\, Lucy Walker) and artist-filmmaker Steven Eastwood\, THE STIMMING POOL (United Kingdom\, 2025) is an experimental and sometimes magical hybrid film whose drifting form is built around the concept of an autistic camera. The curiosity of this camera discovers a relay of subjects who stray through the world\, revealing environments often hostile to autistic experience – such as a hectic workplace and a crowded pub – and quiet spaces that offer respite from them. Sometimes the camera wanders off without any guide\, finding an ancient woodland\, an abandoned testing centre\, even a fragment from an animated zombie film set in the American civil war. Learn more about The Stimming Pool here \nIn addition! \nThe Autistic Camera \nOnline Workshop with Georgia Bradburn (co-director of The Stimming Pool) \nFriday\, July 24\, 12:00pm – 1:30pm PST \nWorkshop will take place over Zoom. A recording of the workshop will be made available as a recording for all registrants. \n$30 workshop fee \nRegister for the workshop here – Movie ticket holders can use the code STIMMING-15 to get $15 off the workshop price. \nLearn more about The Autistic Camera workshop. \n  \nSee you at the movies! \nJulie Perini \nfilmmaker\, artist\, Professor at Portland State \n  \nAccessibility: The Tomorrow Theater provides accessible features for guests with disabilities\, including wheelchair seating\, assistive listening systems\, closed captioning\, and audio descriptions. More information on accessibility.
