SUMMARY:19th year of Bike First! (Portland)
DESCRIPTION:Bike First! is absolutely our most favorite time of the year\, and we are thrilled to announce our 19th year of Bike First! will take place the week of FRIDAY\, June 27th through WEDNESDAY\, July 2nd 2025. NOTE: This is a tentative date as we have still not had confirmation from where we rent the bikes. \nIn 2007\, Bike First! started with then ten-year-old Cody Sullivan\, who wanted to ride a bike with his friends so badly. With great determination\, we created Bike First! and have since taught the skills needed to ride typical bicycles to over 850 children\, youth\, and adults with disabilities. We have also opened our doors to individuals “without” disabilities in our Quick Start! and Refresher courses. Our volunteers have devoted this week- running at top speeds- to the spirit of community with their deep dedication to spreading their belief in inclusion. This year\, we plan to include 50+ riders who will take steps toward independent riding of typical bikes. \nCaregiver Meeting (required): Friday\, June 27\, 7-8:00 PM\, Parkrose Middle School Gym \nCelebration: Wednesday\, July 2\, 2025 (end of each session) \nBike First! full week dates: Saturday\, June 28 – Wednesday\, July 2\, 2025 \n\n\nFive sessions per day (riders attend one session daily for one hour and 15 minutes) \n\n\nFee: $250 \n\n\nQuick Start / Refresher Course dates: Monday\, June 30 – Wednesday\, July 2\, 2025 \n\n\nFive sessions per day (riders attend one session daily for one hour and 15 minutes) \n\n\nFee: $150 \n\n\nLocation: \n\n\nParkrose Middle School Gym \n\n\n11800 NE Shaver St\, Portland\, OR 97220 \nRegister at \nIf you wish to contact us about scholarships\, please contact annbikefirst@gmail.com for approval BEFORE beginning registration. \nVolunteer: Is there someone in your friend/family group that would like to volunteer? SUMMARY:Sensory Storytime with Multnomah County Library (Portland)
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Multnomah County Library \nSensory Storytime with Multnomah County Library \nJoin us for stories and songs in an environment especially welcoming to those on the autism spectrum and families looking for a smaller\, more adaptive library experience. In person storytimes are Saturdays at 11:15 at the Capitol Hill Library and Gregory Heights Library.  Each storytime includes a hands-on activity. \nRegistration is open for the Summer session of the online Sensory Storytime presented via Zoom on Tuesdays at 3:30.
