DESCRIPTION:Wednesday January 24\, 2018 \n10:30 AM-12:00 PM ; OHS 8B60 Auditorium \nNarratives of Autism and Skilled Employment to Inform Future Intervention \nPresenter:  Pr. Dora Raymaker\, Ph.D.\, Portland State University \nDora Raymaker\, PhD is an Assistant Research Professor at the Portland State University’s Regional Research Institute\, and co-directs the Academic Autism Spectrum Partnership in Research and Education (AASPIRE\, http://aaspire.org). She is an intervention researcher with particular interest in community-engaged practices\, accessible technology\, measurement adaptation and knowledge translation\, and dynamics at the intersection of science\, society\, and public policy. Dr. Raymaker primarily conducts research in collaboration with disability communities. \nDr. Raymaker will present a two-year study that uses a community based participatory research approach to understand the mechanisms of successful employment for employees on the autism spectrum in skilled or professional fields\, and to construct a model and intervention plan to improve employment outcomes. This seminar focuses on the year one findings from our qualitative interviews with autistic employees and job-seekers\, supervisors and supporters of autistic employees\, and a small number of key stakeholders within broader employment systems.
