Shooting Stars

Basketball for children with Special Needs and Intellectual Disabilities grades K-12

When: Saturdays only, December 1 – February 23, 2013.
Where: Oak Grove School or Bilquist School gymnasium.
Times: Will be 75-minute sessions each Saturday

BIG DIPPERS - (those desiring to play team basketball at 10' hoops): We are planning to create teams each with 5-6 players. We have added a Thursday night optional practice with Saturday game days that include a 20-min "warm-up" and then two 15-min halves of basketball against one of the other teams.

LITTLE DIPPERS - (those who prefer 6' -8' hoops) : We are going to continue with more of what we did last season - basketball activities and skills building. However, we will try to keep sessions to 15 players or less in the gym to reduce noise and distractions for the players. Each Saturday we will "practice" basketball for 30 min and play a game for 20-30min with a "snack-time" intermission.

Cost: $50 for Big Dippers & $40 for Little Dippers - includes a basketball for each child, a jersey, facility rental and insurance, and a season-ending participation memento.

o    Structured practice prior to the games

o    Lowered hoops available

o    Score clock and referees

o    Games played on full or half-court depending on need
