Responses to Bullying

Responses to Bullying

2510 SW 1st, Portland

Bullying has become an epidemic in our communities. If left unaddressed, bullying can lead to psychological and physical consequences which will have devastating effects on our entire community. If you are looking for successful responses to bullying and learning how to create powerful solutions that allow children to thrive,Summa Institute is offering a free symposium with renowned educators and community leaders who have years of experience and powerful solutions to share. Panelists will address ways to establish a culture of care and respect where bullying becomes unacceptable and soon disappears, and healthy relationships flourish.

Some interesting facts on Bullying:
50% of bullies are bullied by a sibling at home
80% of parents do not know bullying has occurred
7% of America’s eighth-graders stay home at least once a month because of bullies
67% of bullying happens when adults are not present
15% of students believe teachers see bullying; while 71% of teachers believe they see it when it happens

There is hope. With their years of experience and work with many constituencies our panel will tell us what works, why it works, and how we can all participate in solving the problem. Plus, there will be plenty of time for Q & A.
