Positive Behavior Intervention
and Support (PBIS) to Work with Individuals in Aging and
People with Disabilities (APD)

Using a Positive Behavior Support process, participants will be instructed in the skills necessary to conduct a behavior assessment, develop a behavior plan, train caregivers, and conduct periodic reviews of the plan's effectiveness. Case studies will be used to guide participants through understanding the behavior pathway as a tool to see the client's point of view. Participants will learn through lecture, group discussions, and hands on practice.

Target Audience: Staff who are currently employed or anticipating employment by an organization that offers services to aging adults and persons with disabilities. This includes staff from corporations and businesses that support clients receiving APD services and/or private pay clients. These clients may be receiving services in an assisted living facility, adult foster home, or in home services.
