OFSN is excited to offer a newly developed training through our Statewide Training Program.  Please consider applying to attend the inauguralIntroduction to Coaching Peer Support Specialists training.  This initial training will focus on coaching Family Peer Support Specialists (FPSS) and will be limited to 15 participants so apply early! 

Date:  June 24 and 25, 2014

Time:  10:00am-4:00pm each day (lunch provided)

Location:  Broadway Commons Peru Room #306 
             1300 NE Broadway St.
             Salem, Oregon, 97301

Participants will:

*Understand concepts such as mutuality in relationship, cultural and linguistic responsiveness, ethics and boundaries and parallel process practice.

*Practice using tools such as a Shadow Planning tool, a Coach Skills Assessment tool and Professional Development Planning tool that have been developed specifically for coaching Peer Support Specialists (PSS).

*Practice applying Peer Support Specialist (PSS) coaching skills in creating professional development plans.

*Increase Peer Support Specialist (PSS) coaching competencies related to self reflection and growth in maintaining confidentiality, professional boundaries and appropriate ethical standards.  

Prerequisites:  This initial training is for those working in Family Peer Support Specialist roles therefore an applicant should have a minimum of two years experience as a Family Peer Support Specialist or have completed the National Parent Support Provider certification in lieu of direct experience.  Completion, submission and acceptance of the FPSS Coaching application.
