April 19 Benefit Concert Celebrates Award-Winning Book About Autistic Boy with Superpowers; Educates About Autism During Autism Awareness Month

Award-winning author and musician Brian Tashima, will celebrate his young adult fantasy novel’s Best Book Award at an all-age book re-launch party and concert 6 to 9 pm April 19 at the Picnic House, 723 SW Salmon, Portland, and will raise funds for Autism Empowerment.

Both Tashima’s book and the event aim to help educate the public about children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) during National Autism Awareness Month. The main character in the book, “Secret of the Songshell,” is an autistic boy with superpowers. Tashima created this character to help inform the public about some of the remarkable abilities autistic children possess.
