Over the past 22 years, Dennis Debbaudt, the parent of a young man with autism, has authored or co-authored over 30 autism and safety related articles and books including Autism, Advocates and Law Enforcement Professionals and articles for the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin. Debbaudt Legacy Productions,LLC training videos are in use by the Department of Homeland Security, Pennsylvania State Police and law enforcement agencies throughout the world. Dennis has developed training for the NYPD, consulted and contributed to the Chicago PD’s autism training block and has consulted to ABC News 20/20 for a segment on autism and false confession.

Some of the topics for discussion and review are:

·         Identify issues of autism-related risk

·         Wandering

·         Contact with police and first responders

·         Safety at home, on campus and when traveling

·         911 data base alerts

·         Provide an autism emergency handout

·         Identify issues of autism-related risk

·         Provide strategies to help manage ASD risks at home, school and in the community

·         Disclosure options: ID cards, 911 call center registries, and field disclosure

·         Discuss prevention, alert and response plans for dangerous wandering

·         Developing safety programs for home, campus, work and recreational settings and in the community

·         Reducing victimization

·         Safety & risk life skills training

·         Developing partnerships with law enforcement & first response agencies

Who:            Parents, Grandparents, Care Providers, Children’s Foster Parents, Adult Foster Care Providers, Social Service Professionals, Brokerage, Residential and Employment Professionals and Autism Community Providers

(Adult Foster Care Continuing Education Credit is pending).
